How to Join Newton

Tour

The best way to get to know us and determine whether Newton is right for your child is to arrange an appointment to visit our school. You will be able to meet our team, learn about our curriculum, and meet some of our kiddos. Please call us at 561-563-1117 to schedule a visit.

Assess

After your visit, if you believe Newton  is the appropriate place for your student, you must arrange for your child to visit us for a morning. At that time, we will establish your child's specific learning level through a testing procedure. Newton accepts children that are just below, at or above grade level.

Apply

If parents and administration agree that Newton is the appropriate placement, parents will be asked to submit a Registration Application via TUIO.

Application Procedures

Admission to Newton is by application only. Our Registration Application may be found on the How to Apply page.

To best serve all students, we can only admit student candidates whom we identify as working just below, at or above grade level with accommodations. All children are required to have a behavior intervention plan. If your child is receiving RBT services in his/her current school, your child’s RBT will be welcome at Newton. Our high standard of integrity prevents us from accepting students who may not be able to keep up with the rigorous academic standards at Newton.  Our students are typically diagnosed with ADHD or Autism 1 or 2, have some behavioral challenges that have prevented them from being successful at their current school, able to meet all their own basic functional needs, may be minimally verbal and can demonstrate their wants and needs independently, and are just below, on or above grade level.

If you have any questions or want more information on our programs, please feel free to call us at 561-563-1117.

Student Profile

The typical students at Newton are just below, at or above grade level, have some behavioral, social, and or emotional challenges that have prevented them from being successful at their current school, may be minimally verbal and can demonstrate their wants and needs completely independently. They must also be completely independent in all basic functional skills. Many of our students are highly intelligent but learn in unique ways. Whatever their challenge might be, the student’s capacity for academic success has often been underestimated in the past. Because of their uniqueness, many have even been the targets of bullying at their previous school.

Parents seek out Newton because they know their student has a greater potential for successful learning if only given the right environment with instructors employing suitable strategies. When given a positive learning environment, these students consistently demonstrate a high level of motivation to learn!

Our learning strategies have been highly successful because:

  • We value and set high expectations for rigorous academics.

  • We maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment, free from the distractions that inhibit learning.

  • We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying.

  • Students are given 1:1 attention, allowing staff to meet all academic and behavioral needs.

  • We develop social skills in a setting that children can learn and practice them with greater success.

  • We implement behavior analytic strategies throughout the day, in real time, in the natural environment.

At Newton Learning Center we respect all persons regardless of race, color, gender, age, national origin, or religion. We value and consider the welfare of the students in all decision making and actions. We maintain just, courteous, and appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff members, and others.
